Dr. Jiri Gruz received his diploma in analytical chemistry in 2004 and Ph.D. in botany in 2008 from Palacky University. He is employed as a scientist at Laboratory of Growth Regulators, Centre of the Region Hana for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research, Institute of Experimental Botany ASCR & Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. In 2012, he received CRH Director’s Award for successful project on oxidative degradation of phenolic compounds. His major research is directed to identifying novel biomarkers and bioactive compounds from plants by using LC-MS metabolomics. He is an editor of South African Journal of Botany; he is also a supervisor of courses in experimental data processing, metabolomics and pharmacognosy at Palacky University. He published 59 scientific articles and book chapters (total cites 1130, h index 19).
